Hot Bodies & Sizzling Soundtracks!

Weight-training and intense cardio definitely render some pretty jaw-dropping results, coupled with smart eating and good supplementation. We know all that - more or less (lol). But who ever said that all this training was fun? I could see were lifting (esp. free weights) could get your heart racing, as your imagination was left to its own devices; however, unless you're John Basedow or some p9ox nutjob, I highly doubt you find the treadmill, stairclimber, or any of the other novelty torture devices to be entertaining on their own.

Some people will bring a magazine and play a balancing act, if you step too hard, your reading material will be on the floor. Others like to meditate - till they forget where they're at -- and SPLAT! Others like to watch tv - which unless you have earphones (most that don't), then not only will you be bored, but you'll be annoyed b/c you can't understand a damn thing. (lol).

Finally, an enlightened few take mp3 players (brands & styles vary - based on price, sound quality, disc size, etc).

So anyways, I went ahead and asked the champions, including my friend Valerie Garcia (future Mrs. John Romano), who soon will be a champion (just look at her -- but not for too long), what they listen to when their pumping iron and burning through hundreds of calories!

"It's crucial for me to have some beats in my ear while training, both weights and cardio. There have been times I've left the gym simply to drive back home if I've forgotten my ipod. Something in the music gets me going and keeps me focused. My music drowns out the horrible stuff they play in the gym, the obnoxiously loud girl yakking on her cell on the treadmill next to me, or the greasy guy trying to get my attention (thankfully, I train with my man now so I don't have to worry about that!). It is also a great way to discourage 'Chatty Cathys' from interrupting my workout.

I have my ipod filled with dance, electronic, and some hip-hop & rock. Top ten that never get old:

Reflekt ft. Delline Bass - 'Need to Feel Loved'
Ferry Corsten - 'Black Velvet'
Dinka - 'Elements' (EDX mix)
The Prodigy - 'Breathe'
Hibernate - 'Motion'
Kreayshawn - 'Online Fantasy'
Cerf, Mitiska, & Jaren - 'Beggin You' (Armin Van Buuren mix)
Rick Ross & Drake - 'Aston Martin Music'
Dave Aude & David Garcia - 'Dancin Circles'
The Movement - 'Livest Shit'"

"I absolutely need to have my ipod when I am doing my lifting and night cardio (morning cardio I watch TV at my house). I typically lift with my husband, but we both listen to our music. I think music really helps me focus and it gives me the motivation to push myself. I definitely do not lift/ do cardio as hard when I am not listening to it or when someone is talking to me...the gym is not a place for socializing in my opinion. As far as what I listen to, I would say mostly rock with some hip hop thrown in depending on my mood. My top ten songs are:

Dig- Mudvayne
Warrior- Disturbed
Dragula- Rob Zombie
Show Me What You’ve Got- Powerman 5000
Booty Wurk- T-pain (leg day song) ;)
Numb- Rob Zombie
Shake My- Three 6 Mafia
Monster- Skillet
Tears Don’t Fall- Bullet for my Valentine
Fly- Nicki Minaj and Rihanna

"Oh wow, what a great question. My song list is too long and varied to name them all. I mostly listen to the heavy stuff while I lift. It really gets the adrenalin goin! Sevendust, Disturbed, Pantera, Godsmack, Ozzy etc. I don't EVER have it off! I listen to it from the moment I step foot on the weight floor to the moment I get into my car. I am focused in the gym and it allows me to work hard and avoid any unnecessary jibber jabber with other people and avoid my muscles cooling off. It's a MUST have for my cardio. I couldn't make it through a session without it. Music is a BIG part of my life. My dad was a guitar player, my mom is a singer, my grandparents were singers, my son is a guitar player and drummer and my husband is a drummer. Needless to say music is in my blood. It's a MUST for me everyday!

My Top 10 songs would be as follows: (in no order)
Face to Face-Sevendust
Bitch-Sevendust
5 Minutes Alone- Pantera
Far Beyond Driven- Pantera
Cryin Like a Bitch-Godsmack
Walk-Pantera
Stupify-Disturbed
Awake-Godsmack
Stranglehold-Ted Nugent
Moonbaby-Godsmack
No Rest For The Wicked-Godsmack
Anything Sammy Hagar (he's my fav and I'll let anything play from him, even slow songs)

"Listening to music definitely can have an influence on my workout. Lately I've been doing cardio/lifting with my girlfriends Kelly and Lindsey, so I ditch the iPod when I'm with them. However, when I have to do cardio alone, my iPod is an absolute must. One will find a mix of Dance/Electronic remixes, Pop and Latin Pop on my iPod. I choose upbeat, positive music selections for my cardio sessions to keep me moving and feeling strong. I love to go dancing on the weekends with my friends, so I like the tunes that remind me of past fun weekends and weekends yet to come.

My cardio consists of walking so I walk to the beat of my music.

When I lift, I do listen to music, but it's not as necessary to me as having music during cardio.

My Top 10 Songs at the moment are:
1) Glad You Came-The Wanted, BassjackersRemix
2) Turn it Down-Kaskae
3) In the Air-Morgan Page
4) Llove-Kaskade
5) Eyes-Kaskade
6) Levels-Avicii
7) Stereo Love-Edward Maya
8) This is my Life-Edward Maya
9) She Wolf-Shakira
10) On the Floor-J Lo

All of these songs are awesome to me for their fun, catchy beats, and I have many good memories being out with friends having a total blast while listening to them. Number 10 on the list is significant because that is the song I walked out to on stage at my last show. It brings my mind to where it needs to be--thinking about hitting the stage next!

I've officially given up on trying to interview Detroit-based, Kyrstyn Niespolo, who was featured last year. It's very unforunate that in an industry full of people looking for good press, that someone would be so excited and grateful to be featured, only to then disappear all together. I was under a very strong impression that Kyrstyn would do an interview, so instead of interviewing others like IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Zoa Linsey (who I asked after Kyrstyn), I worked on questions for the person that was first in line.

Several messages since mid December, and I regretfully give up. I take FigureBikni.com very seriously -- and all the ladies that reply to my polls, get featured, and take the time to participate -- I owe you 100% of my all, because your name appears here. I have messaged this person, simply asking for a two word reply - and nothing. So anyways, THANK YOU to those of you that help this page. Like I always like to thell people -- you DON'T need a card -- to act like - or - be - A PROFESSIONAL. Some people can "go pro," but comport themselves like the biggest amateurs in the world!

On a sidenote, I want to stress how much I admire Team Bombshell, as well as other organizations like Tanji Johnson's Save Fitness. The vast majority of the athletes in these organizations, represent the most gifted, hard working, professional people in the entire industry. However, I do have to be fair, and I can only take so much rudeness - regardless who the athlete is "with." Peace!

Ashley, Allison, & Kyrstyn, ROCK NATIONALS!

"I'm ecstatic with 2nd place in a class with 40+ women in the largest show in NPC history! I'm only going to continue to improve and bring another great package to the next one!"

Ashley Lemmons 2nd Place, Class D

Physique sports aren't for everybody. They require a great deal of hard work when it comes to weight-training, a meticulous method for dieting, intense cardio that tests you on a daily basis; then you've got the suits, the tanning, the posing, the music - it's like it never ends. But unlike basketball, football, or any other sport conceivable, in Physique sports you have to stand out from everyone else, based on what the judges are looking for on that day. There is no hoop, no field goal, no home run, to speak of. It's a sport that isn't for everybody.

Ashley Lemmons has proven to the nation and to the world, that her coming of age is here, that she's poised to go pro and when it's time to do battle, she's going to emerge on top! At this very show - just one year ago - Ashley didn't place, but this year she not only did serious damage at Junior Nationals, but she comes back to this very show and takes second in her class! Next year she's going to go pro, and at this rate.. in a few years, one of her biggest goals in life (doing battle at the Figure Olympia stage) will come true. Congrats to this great champion on a job excellently done!

" "I am so grateful and so blessed to have placed 3rd in a class of over 40 women in the largest NPC Nationals show in history. The show was so much fun, very well run, and I am thankful to have had the honor to be a part of it. I am already anxious to get back to the gym and continue to make improvements for 2012!!"

Allison Moyer

Allison Moyer is also no stranger to the fitness lifestyle. She's been published in some of the most prestigious magazines in our sport, she eats lean year-round, doesn't drink, doesn't party, and she came to Miami Beach with a physique that was going to get rave reviews. She took an impressive 3rd place in a class full of talent. One can only wonder what 2012 will hold for this rising star in the Figure world! I predict Allison will also go pro in 2012; I make this prediction now, without a doubt in my mind!

2nd Place, ClassB
I'd also like to send a huge congratulatory salute to our good friend Kyrstyn Niespolo, who's also been a big help to the FigureBikini.com site. She brought a great package to the Bikini stage and shows very promising signs of a Pro in the waiting. Kyrstyn is a native of Detroit, works at L.A. Fitness, and is a Team Bombshell athlete. Trust me when I tell you, this girl WILL go pro! Again, big congrats to her and everyone that assisted her in her prep. I'll make sure to include questions about this big win whenever we do the much-anticipated interview.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Laura Boisacq, who won the Middleweight Division in Women's Bodybuilding. She is the wife of Shawn Boisacq (2011 NPC Emerald Cup - Heavyweight Champion), and from the looks of her, she's going to be a very competitive IFBB Pro Bodybuilder in her own right. I hope to be able to interview this wonderful athlete in the future. Congrats Laura!!!

Bikini Superstar Tells All

"I started competing last year when I was 18 years old. I was active and played basketball and soccer when I was in highschool, and when I reached college i wanted to stay fit and in shape. I bought a membership at L.A. fitness and was soon enough was offered to be part of their staff. Working at a gym helps me stay motivated, knowing that everyone around you is trying to stay fit as well. My good friend AJ seen that i was always working hard in the gym and told me about fitness/bikini competing. He introduced me to my first coach Jim Dockeray. I trained with Jim and competed in my first show, the jay cutler classic, Oct. 30, 2010. I placed 1st in class B and first place in Overall bikini. This show made me nationally qualified! I was so proud of myself and all the hard work i put into my training. I then continued training with Jim, and my next show was Jr. Nationals in Chicago, June18-19. I placed 13th in class B. I wasnt happy with myself after this show! Nationals was a whole different level, and I had alot to learn and improve. After Nationals I ended up joining Team Bombshell. I started training with them and competed at my first show as a Bombshell at Coastal USA's in Georgia, Aug. 20, 2011. At this show I placed 3rd in class B. This helped me gain my confidence back after Nationals and realize I do have what it takes, and can be just as great as any of the other competitors! A few weeks later I competed at my first National show as a Bombshell in Cleveland, Ohio, Sept 2-3. I placed 1st in Class B and made it to the Overalls. I was just inches away from winning my pro card!! However I did not win it. It was such an honor to be able to compete on stage in the Overall at a National show. I was so happy and felt so blessed! My coaches along with my teammates, friends, and family were so impressed and proud of all my hard work and dedication. Knowing that I was so close to winning my Pro Card just makes me push myself and work harder and harder each and everyday! I plan on competing at Nationals in November, and am hoping this will be my lucky show to win my pro-card at! Until then I will keep at it everyday and push my self a little more as I count down the days until I step on stage again! I plan to end the season strong!

How hard do I work on my final week prep?
- My coaches kick my booty in final week prep!! The week before my shows I usually spend time to myself and just concentrate on what I need to do. This week is always very tiring due to the two a days and all the hard training! But if you want it you have to work hard for it! Success doesn't come easy!

Who would I like to Thank?
I would like to Thank all of my coaches, from when I first started competing until now! That would be Jim Dockeray, Trisha Rizzo, Momma and Papa Bombshell, and all my other Bombshell coaches! They have all done so much for me, and have taken the individual time to train/ prep my plan to get me to where i am now!I could not thank them enough. I would also like to thank all my Bombshell sisters, friends, and family who have supported me and helped keep me motivated throughout all my competitive seasons.I wouldn't be able to do it with out any of them! To my Mom and Dad I would like to give a special thanks too. They have been right by my side throughout each competition, and have supported every decision I have made! They have been through so much in helping me reach my goals, and would give anything they can just to see my dreams come true! I truely appreciate everything that everyone has done for me and thank you all so very much from the bottom of my heart!

What are my Plans for the Future??
- My biggest goal right now is to get my Pro- Card! After that i would still like to compete and it would be such an honor to get an O invite! I am only 19 years old right now and turn 20 October 28th. Even though I am a young competitor i have many goals and things I would like to accomplish throughout the next few years!

Join Here! Unete Aqui!

Sponsors?
-I would like to thank Bikinis by Nicole! She has made all of my competition suits since I have started competing! Each and everyone of them has their own unique design.

Favorite and least favorite muscles to train?
- Favorite= I love to train arms and abs! However, lately I have been loving to train my legs and booty. I guess you could say I enjoy training every muscle, but if i had to big which muscles to train the most it would be my shoulders, abs, and butt.
