I have been working out since I was 16 years old. I have always had a love for the gym, cardio and weights. Through the years, I have tried everything from spin classes, to boot camps to yoga. I enjoy lifting and high intensity cardio the most. The problem for me was I was always working out but my body just looked ok. Well last April 2011 I met Spencer Aiken owner of True Fitness in San Diego and began to workout at his studio. His different approach to fitness is what finally kicked my body into gear. He is also the one who convinced me to do my first NPC bikini division show this past February. Well training for the show and changing my diet took my body to a transformation I never thought could happen. I placed 2nd in my height class at the NPC Gold Coast and then 7th at the NPC Grand Prix in Los Angeles. Next show will be the USA’s in Las Vegas. My goal is to earn my pro card within the next year and gain sponsorships. I have also just become a certified personal trainer, and look forward to starting a new career in that field.
My current workouts consist of heavy lifting legs one day and heavy lifting upper body another. I then dedicate two others days to plyometric style workouts for both legs and upper body. I try to do cardio 5 to 6 days a week and vary it between the treadmill, elliptical and Stairmaster.
My diet consists of lean protein, good fats, lots vegetables, and healthy carbs. I eat mostly chicken, turkey and protein powder for my protein. My fat comes from nuts, and peanut butter. For carbs I eat brown rice, high fiber cereal and oatmeal. I am also obsessed with Quest bars; they help me when I have a hard time getting to a scheduled meal.
I would like to thank Spencer Aiken for giving me the best workouts and being supportive during my training. I would also like to thank my husband for putting up with me on most cranky days during my dieting and hard-core training. I would also like to give a big thank you to Aggie Garcia designer/owner of Illusions by Aggie who has made me the best bikinis.
Editor's Notes
It's not everyday that I title a post with the words "Sexy, Beautiful, and Flawless," that's a totally unique assessment. It's not hard to believe Christina has been working out since the age of 16, and there's no doubt she's had the will and determination to make it. But sometimes it take more than heart and drive and it's important to come across that professionalism and just downright maturity, for an athlete to recognize others and give credit where credit is due. I am not familiar with Spencer Aiken, but thanks to Christina, if anyone ever asked me about him, I'd speak highly of him based on this feature. And that dear friends, is how marketing, word out mouth, networking works! I hope to one day feature Mr. Aiken - as CONTRARY to what you may think - there is a SCARCITY (not an abundance) of good trainers and contest prep experts in the industry. There's a lot of girls (and guys) getting ripped off! So kudos to Spencer Aiken for helping Christina.
I also got a kick out of the fact that our featured athlete is obsessed with Quest Bars - they happen to be the favorite protein bar of one of my 2 all time idols in the sport of bodybuilding -- DAVE PALUMBO -- (the other idol, in case anyone is wondering -- is John Romano).
Again, a huge thank you to Christina, and soon - we'll be posting updates with her, including her in special member polls, and hopefully before Summer is over, we'll present a full-length interview on StrengthAddicts/FigureBikini.
So proud of You Christina. It is all your hard work that is paying off big time for you
ReplyDeleteChristina is not only a beautiful athlete, she's a beautiful friend. She is dedicated to everything she does and has a professional work ethic. It is not surprising to me that she is having so much success. I would expect nothing less from her. Love you Christina!
