NPC Muscle City Classic

Bodybuilding's back! Fans throughout Michigan are getting excited to see their favorite champions battle throughout the various NPC Contests throughout the state. Did you know that Michigan is ranked 4th as far as most NPC Contests held per year?

2012 Ms. Lansing Bikini Phuong Tu looks up-and-down like a future Bikini Pro. She dominated the Division at last year's contest and secured the Overall title. I'm not sure if she's back this year, but it would be terrific to the reigning champion return - to get another title for her ever-impressive resume.

The Men's Physique Division was the scene of an all out war! The lineups were deep, with plenty of talent and very driven athletes poised to win. Physique Champion Cedrick McKinney, who participated in our 2nd Physique Seminar, dominated the Class took the contest. Many hope he'll return to do battle, but with local greats like Winston Tsai, Austin Fineis, Colin Weng, and Kennedy Wolfrom, he may find himself working very hard to get that 2nd title in the Capitol City.

Last year's Bodybuilding Division was also stacked with talent. Grand Rapids Bodybuilding legend Zachary Butler defeated fellow natural bodybuilders Ben Haag and John Nolan to capture the Light Heavyweight Division. Middleweight Champion Jeff Vasque, competing as Jeff Giovanni, won the Overall.

But the real battle of the contest took place in the Figure Division between two-then teammates, Class A Winner Michelle Mosher and Class B & Overall Winner Amy Watson. Watson, a Lansing local, has been involved in competitions for years and is a true friend of physique sports. In fact, when I planned our Physique seminars, I reached out to her through several people. She didn't do a thing to help us. God Bless her!

Other notables in Women's Figure that may do the contest include, Uncrowned Ms. Lansing Figure Rhonda Jones (now training with the great IFBB Pro John Simmons), Masters Figure Champion Margarita Beale (above), and Jeanine Pond ("J-Pond").
